What is Self-Compassion & Self-Esteem?

Self-esteem and self-compassion are critical components of emotional well-being and resilience. Low self-esteem and a lack of self-compassion can manifest as persistent feelings of inadequacy, self-criticism, and difficulty accepting yourself. Therapy can help you uncover and understand the beliefs and life experiences that contribute to these negative self-perceptions. By exploring the roots of these feelings, therapy can facilitate the development of a more positive self-image, enhance self-compassion, and cultivate a kinder and more accepting relationship with yourself. This process often involves challenging negative beliefs, fostering self-acceptance, and learning to treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer to a friend.

When one needs treatment?

    • Persistent self-criticism or feelings of inadequacy
    • Difficulty accepting or valuing oneself
    • Avoiding challenges or opportunities due to fear of failure
    • Struggling with negative self-talk or body image issues
    • Feeling undeserving of love or success.
    • Seeking to build a healthier, more compassionate relationship with oneself
