Shanika Varghese, Practicum Student-LCMHC Candidate 2025

About Me

Hi, I’m Shanika. I’m a North Carolina-based Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate. If I had a motto for my practice, it would be:

Stop letting life happen and start making things happen.

Many of us are carrying more than anyone around us realizes and so any forward motion–no matter how small– is progress. With that in mind, I’m focused on supporting those who are navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, career and/or school transitions, perfectionism, life stress, parenting, postpartum experiences, relationship challenges, and whatever else life throws at you.

I create a nurturing, collaborative space where we do the work together — celebrating the wins, sitting with the hard moments, and building tools that actually serve you beyond session. I genuinely care about your growth and well-being and I am committed to meeting you exactly where you are.

My approach draws from a range of evidence-based practices — blending talk therapy (Person-Centered, Psychodynamic), thought and behavior work (CBT), and culturally grounded frameworks (Multicultural, Solution-Focused) — because no single approach captures the full complexity of a human life.

I am wholeheartedly committed to walking alongside anyone who believes I can be a source of support for their journey — and I am especially passionate about empowering the communities that society has taught us to devalue: Black women & men, communities of color, and those with LGBTQIA+ identities. Not only is this a professional value I hold— it’s deeply personal as well. This is a space where your whole identity is welcome and affirmed. If any of that resonates, you’re in the right place and I look forward to meeting you.
