Resources: FAQs
Q: What can I expect from therapy?
A: Your therapy session is a safe space for you to talk about any and everything that you are concerned about. You can expect a trained clinician to hold space for your emotions, listen intently, and ask thoughtful questions to guide you to personal discovery.
Q: How long can I expect to be in therapy?
A: The length of treatment varies for each individual depending on the issue. The therapeutic process is collaborative and you will be able to check in with your therapist to determine how long you should continue therapy.
Q: What should I “bring” to therapy?
A: A willingness and openness to the therapeutic process. This is your journey, and you are empowered to bring all of the tools that you might find helpful. Often clients will bring a journal or notebook to write down their own notes and homework assignments. Your therapist does keep notes, but there is no guarantee that they can provide you with notes or homework assignments after the session.
Q: Is teletherapy an option?
A: We offer in-person as well as teletherapy. Teletherapy is a remote option of therapy where your therapist will use a secure, HIPPA-compliant online platform to engage in virtual therapy with you. If you are paying with insurance, your insurance company will determine your teletherapy benefits. Check in with each individual provider for a better understanding of their own teletherapy model.
Q: What happens if my insurance does not pay for my sessions?
A: You will be responsible for paying the full amount out of pocket at the time of service. We will provide you with a superbill that you can use to submit claims directly to your insurance company.
Q: What if I have to cancel my session?
A: We value your time and we value the time that we set aside just for you. Therefore, we have a cancelation policy in place. We require that you give at least 48 hours notice of canceling your session to avoid cancellation fees. If you cancel between 48 and 24 hours in advance of your session, you will be charged a $65 late cancellation fee. If you cancel the day of your session or if you choose to not show up for your session, you will be charged the full fee of $115.
Q: What if my therapist is no longer a good fit?
A: We acknowledge that finding the right fit is a part of the process. Fit includes but is not limited to personality, theoretical orientation, modality of therapy used, scheduling, and accessibility. We encourage you to talk with your therapist about your needs and if it is determined that your therapist is no longer a good fit, we will provide you with referrals for other therapists.
