She/Her/Hers
As a natural empath, I have the ability to feel deeply and listen intently to the life narrative of others. My passion in life is to help people understand their own thoughts, feelings, and patterns and to help them heal through that work.

I work with people who are high achieving and/or have challenges with perfectionism. People who have come to an impasse or a place of stuckness where the old patterns of behavior are no longer serving them. Many people are dissatisfied with living a life that lacks alignment and authenticity, trying to fit the mold of outside expectations. I help people reach a space of clarity and understanding through exploring patterns of thinking, dismantling faulty belief systems, and bringing awareness to hidden emotions.
I help people who are dealing with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, life transitions, stress, grief and loss, and relationship challenges. My theoretical scope includes but is not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, mindfulness, solution- focused therapy, and strength-based approaches.
I work with clients of all faith backgrounds. As a practicing Christian with 15 years of experience in ministry, I am skilled in using Christian beliefs and spiritual practices in the therapy space as a part of the healing process, if requested.
He/His/Him
The more we avoid or deny what hurts us most, the more power and control we give to things like negative painful emotions, intrusive thoughts, harmful behaviors and vices, and toxic relationships. Rather than turn away from our pain, fear and discomfort, we must pause and ask why we’re choosing to avoid facing all that makes us human.
Read More...Read Less... When we ignore what our minds and bodies are communicating to us, we risk neglecting our health and overlooking what we need to heal and thrive. Through avoidance, we deny ourselves the opportunity to overcome, achieve success, and live a meaningful life. I help clients who feel or struggle to understand emotions like anger, shame, fear, and hopelessness. Perhaps you feel trapped in your current circumstances or doubt your ability to change after several tries and not succeeding. I take great care in providing space for those who want to better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors so that the path to change is made clear and success more attainable. I provide individual psychotherapy for adults struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem, grief/loss, trauma, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. I also provide ADHD coaching and gender evaluations for adults seeking written support letters to receive gender-affirming medical care. As a queer, multiracial (Black & Hispanic) and neurodivergent counselor, I am dedicated to practicing therapy through a culturally sensitive, identity-affirming lens to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment. I provide individual therapy services for adults ages 18-50, college students, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and neurodiverse adults. I also have specialized experience working with transgender and nonbinary folx, and adults with ADHD and ASD. I use an integrated and humanistic approach to therapy, meaning I consider the whole person as opposed to focusing on a single area of their life causing hardship. My counseling framework integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), existential therapy, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and narrative therapy. With these modalities, I help individuals navigate life's complexities and face adversities upon building resilience and self-understanding. My approach centers on empowering clients to embrace their authentic selves, confront existential dread or fears, tolerate uncertainty, and ultimately develop a purposeful, values-driven life. I use ACT to help clients develop psychological flexibility, enabling them to accept difficult thoughts and emotions and committing to actions that align with their core values. With existential therapy, I assist clients in exploring profound questions about existence, issues around control, life purpose, and reclaiming autonomy in order to foster a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world. My approach as a therapist is compassionate, client-centered. and tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. Together we will work to transform challenges into opportunities for growth, helping you live a life that is fulfilling and authentically yours.

Hi, there. I’m Grace. If you’re reading this, you may be considering the vulnerable, messy, beautiful, healing work of therapy.
Read More...Read Less... I am not here to give you answers, but rather to journey with you in an endeavor toward a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences, challenges, goals, and strengths. I will bring warmth, empathy, non judgment, curiosity, and sometimes humor to our shared space, and will treat you as the expert of your own experience. There may be tears in one moment and laughter the next. However you show up, I am here as a collaborator in this work. Together, we can imagine (and practice) what fulfillment looks like in your life through harmony with different parts of yourself, others, and your communities. I take an eclectic relational and person-centered approach because needs are unique from one person to the next, so we will explore together what works for you. My work primarily draws from psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and may include elements of narrative and relational-cultural therapies, somatic and nervous system-focused exercises, and your own emotional, physical, intellectual, or spiritual practices. As a white, queer, Jewish, gender-expansive person, I am deeply committed to approaching this work with an anti-oppressive lens and take pleasure in exploring practices that are culturally resonant, identity-affirming, and personally meaningful to you. I work to foster a therapeutic relationship that creates space for you to safely show up fully and authentically. With that said, as humans there are pieces of us that expand beyond the context of the therapy room. Prior to obtaining my MSW from UNC-CH, I worked in nonprofits focused on arts education, housing, racial equity, and supporting sex workers. Outside of work I may be found reading speculative fiction, camping in the mountains, dancing to live music, thrifting, binge- watching comedies, crafting with loved ones, or doting on my pets.
high-achieving and grappling with a harsh inner critic or finding it hard to keep up with their previous routine, finding that how they’ve been coping isn’t working anymore, feeling out of sync with their values or how they want to live their lives, wanting to know themselves better in their next stage of life, feeling overwhelmed by their emotions, feeling unheard or seeking deeper connection in their relationships. I help clients work through relationship concerns, life transitions, anxiety, depression, stress management, identity exploration, family of origin issues, grief and loss, and with LGBTQIA+ clients wanting to process the varied challenges and pleasures of life.

lens. I will work with you to reconnect to your personal and relational strengths to address the concerns you bring with you to therapy. My therapeutic practice centers around relational conflict and infidelity, intimacy, sexual concerns, childhood behavioral concerns, family dynamics, grief, trauma, and the stuck-ness and uncertainty that can come with navigating stressful life changes. I am also passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ youth, teens, and
their families.
I work from a holistic perspective, seeing you within the context of yourself, your family, and societal systems. I pull from different therapy modalities based on your specific needs or interests and work collaboratively with you to find what feels authentic and helpful. The therapy modalities that I typically pull from are Emotionally Focused Therapy (specifically for romantic partnerships), narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, structural therapy with younger families, and mindfulness practices.
I am a white, queer, nerdy, and sex-positive individual. Recognizing how my identities shape the way that I can move through the world and the privileges that I experience, I am dedicated to utilizing an anti-oppressive and identity-affirming approach throughout our work together. I strive to create a space where you can be your entire authentic self and where we can address how systems of power influence how you and your loved ones move through the world.
I will bring empathy, humor, and openness to the therapy room. I will warmly challenge you to move towards growth and help create boundaries to feel safe within as you grow.

My name is Shanika Varghese, I am a practicum student pursuing my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University. The counseling profession is a testament to my character, as I’ve always been motivated to be a source of encouragement and support to others. At Congruence Counseling Group, I offer services at a significantly lower rate and I am under the clinical supervision of Leslie Stevens, M.Ed. LMCHC.
Read More...Read Less... As a Student Clinician, I strive to provide a safe space for humans to grow into their full potential and live a life they’re proud of. I want to journey with them as they celebrate their wins, encourage them in their growth, and sit with them in their difficulties. Societal constructs have taught us to devalue communities of color and those with LGBTQIA+ identities. However, I am most passionate about empowering them, so I’m hoping to change that narrative. Ultimately, my goal is to change my little corner of the world by collaborating with each human in a way that best suits them. I’ll work with them to create a toolbox for life’s complexities in hopes that they will continually feel empowered through whatever comes their way. I serve adult, child, adolescent, and elderly populations. My clinical interests include: anxiety, aging, depression, grief & loss, life & career transitions, parenting, personal growth, personality disorders, stress management, and minority mental health. My therapeutic approach is drawn from a well of integrative approaches, including CBT, Feminist, Person-Centered, Solution-Based, Psychodynamic and Multicultural theories. Outside of the therapeutic space, I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family & friends, and exploring new experiences. I look forward to working with you!

Hi, my name is Lauren and I am a clinical student intern currently completing my MSW at UNC. As a therapist, I approach clients holistically, in a way that considers multiple facets of their life. Everyone has their own unique experiences, intersecting identities, personalities, values, and priorities that deserve to be heard and honored. This means that fulfillment or “success” will look very different for different people—there is no one blueprint for self-empowerment.
Read More...Read Less... As someone who lives with ADHD and chronic illness, I know what it is like to feel different and to struggle to function within systems that are not designed with your needs in mind. That's why, as a therapist, my priority is to ensure that I truly understand your individual wants and needs in depth so we can create a therapy space that works for YOU. The world is full of so many different responsibilities and distractions competing for our attention, making it easy to spend most of our days focusing only on the lives of others, neglecting our relationship with ourselves. When we lose sight of who we are and what we want, we can become blind to how our behavior patterns create dysfunction in our lives, leaving us feeling unsatisfied, depressed, or overwhelmed. Because each of us is so unique, sometimes personal time away from all of the “noise” is needed to truly get in touch with our individuality and inform the path toward a more authentic, self-determining life. Therapy is that one time that is always guaranteed to be dedicated exclusively to you. It helps us connect with ourselves and get unstuck by providing a supportive space to process thoughts and emotions from past experiences and take steps to improve our well being going forward. My background includes work with individuals navigating issues related to ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence, chronic illness, loved ones or family members of someone struggling with substance use, and childhood trauma, but I am also passionate about working with anyone experiencing low self-esteem, perfectionism, or complicated relationship dynamics. True to my value of addressing individual needs, I take an eclectic, collaborative, client-centered approach based on the needs of each client. I use an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ affirming perspective aimed at honoring your personal identities and helping you navigate any societal obstacles that may come with them. I believe everyone deserves to have space and time dedicated just for them, and I will be there to help you foster authentic understanding, connection, fulfillment, and joy in your life—whatever that looks like for you.
